No, but I think it will do him some good.

[Lucy's memory is good enough to catch that Susan is wearing the same clothes she wore they left Narnia. The very last time Susan was in Narnia, actually]

He's here too, you know. And Peter must be here somewhere.... Don't you think?

[Lucy's always been better at the faith thing than her]

I noticed. Hence the jesting. Don't pay me much mind, though. [He's usually better at getting people to lighten up. It's harder when he's so shaken himself. And hungry.] So. You sail?

Yes, I think I would prefer a sword to a torch myself, in this case.
infant: (which is against the rules)

I am! I am the best there ever —!

[ The sight of that hooked hand knocks the wind out of Peter's sails long enough for him to land with a stumble, swallowing the end of his bold statement. That isn't the captain he knows — not nearly old enough — but he can't possibly be anyone else. He remembers Hook on the bulwarks, jeering Bad form! before falling to his death.

Peter scowls and takes out his dagger. He flies in front of the children who are so far from his hardy Lost Boys as for it to be laughable; Hook is Peter's, anyway. Victory or death is his to claim from this pirate. ]

You. How did you get in here, old man?
sankta: (CLVI)

[ So that answered her next thought. What did he last remember. He didn't know that she betrayed him again. But was it really a betrayal? She had promised to go to him, and she had fulfilled that promise. She had never promised he would survive the encounter. If her plan even worked. She wondered if she could still test it here.

She'd rather not take the risk. She didn't know how anything here might affect anything at home. Not fully. It was easier just to play along with him while she could. ]

No. I'm alone.

Or I was. Still am, maybe.

You're not in the Seelie Court are you? I didn't know you were here until just now. [ And the closer they got, the easier it was to feel him. Which meant if they were in the same court she would have sensed him a long time ago. ]

We're enemies still. [ She watched him carefully as he circled her. ]

[personal profile] marksqueen 2014-03-17 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
I did. It feels like it's been ages. [ahaha. Hah. That was her attempt at joking, even if the joke completely fails since he wouldn't understand the context at all]

Well...Shakespeare is more interesting to talk about anyway. [He has no idea that there's a joke, and doesn't really want to talk about...work. He's peering at the fairy food, considering carefully.] You said something about favorites. What's yours?
counterbalanced: ([lww] Of course it would be raining)

[personal profile] counterbalanced 2014-03-17 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
We'll do well enough on our own, the two of us.

[Edmund eyes the feast laid out before the rest of the kidnapped with one part longing and one part suspicion.]

Have you eaten any of it?
infant: (john had to be altered a little)

[personal profile] infant 2014-03-17 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
The boys here cannot fly, the fairies — I don't know why they haven't any dust. Perhaps it is because old people like you keep trying to steal it.

[ A good enough explanation as to be true. Maybe it is or isn't, Peter thinks it sounds about right enough to fit. ]

If I were a fairy surrounded by greedy grown-ups, I would cast off all my dust too! I would cut out my heart and murder myself before allowing anyone but a child to fly.

[ words like "okay" and "fine" have gotten so skewed in derek's vocabulary, have been relegated to catch-alls. so long as he's alive, still breathing, he's okay. he's fine. he doesn't know if he likes seeing that behavior repeated in isaac, wonder if it's something derek instilled in him or if it was there before derek crashed into the scene. ]

Great. [ derek echoes, sarcastic, then shakes his head. ] We should find a way out.

[ and derek doesn't really need much help to work out that actually finding the exit is easier said than done. ]

[ lydia laughs, it's hard to tell whether or not she is annoyed or just amused by his confession. ]

Great, a werewolf with a defective nose. That's just what we needed.

[ not that she is any better. on edge and sarcastic, neither of them are truly helping the other right about now. ]

So what do we do? Because I don't stand around and brood uselessly.
infant: (perhaps best not to know)

[ So much deja vu going on. A little too much, in fact. ]

Are they called John and Michael?

[ ... It's worth asking. ]

[Well met, huh? That sort of phrase is a bit foreign to Roxas, so he hesitates a moment, wondering if he's being dismissed or what...?]

It's nice to meet you too. [Right, nailed it. Maybe.]

...Is this your first time being in a different world?

[personal profile] marksqueen 2014-03-17 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I enjoyed Othello and Hamlet. But really, all of his plays are brilliant. I haven't been able to see one since before the war.

[ While some have been in this strange land for some time, others have only just arrived. Aragorn was first unsettled when he found himself in such a strange place, and took away from the grant entry hall. There were no answers among many of those others who had arrived, and if he knew anything well enough, it would be the land.

He's well aware of the wars waging, and like Legolas, it reminds him too deeply of the battles in Middle Earth, the long and difficult journey to put an end to Mordor, to quiet the fires of Sauron so that peace may reign in its place. Sauron does not prevail here, he can feel it, and yet here lies a different evil altogether, surely. But there is always peace in the land, peace when one turned and looked first at the very earth they stood on. That, of course, is where his heart is rooted first.

He'd tried to remain in the brush, remain unseen and undetected, for he can hear noises ahead despite the gentle hissing of leaves in the breeze. If he may find his way out of the wood then he would at least have the sky as a compass, would be able to at least seek out his starting place.

Before he may consider anything else, he has a hand rested firmly at the hilt of his blade, and is staring down the narrow length of an arrow. The snapped branch underfoot, he curses himself and slowly. He remains in the shade, dipping only so he may see just who bears such a weapon, for the voice gives him pause. ]

I pray we be friends, else this land has too changed that.

[ in all honesty, this is so typical that derek isn't even phased. annoyed, yes. phased, no. he looks down at his shirt, then back at stiles, frowning. the relief of seeing someone he knows is more or less negated by the sodden mess stiles has made of his shirt. ]

You need to watch where you're going.

[ long-suffering, hands dropping to his sides like derek's just given up on the world. ]

When did you get here?

[ the "and do you know the way out" is just a given. ]

[personal profile] marksqueen 2014-03-17 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
No, and don't. Fairy food is dangerous.

[she actually laughs at that] Peter and Edmund, actually. And I also have a sister named Lucy. You two would get along very well.

[Must...resist urge...to pet.]

Heh, that's not so bad. I was thinking more like as big as me. Although, I could probably take them on anyways.

[Can't offer a handshake either, so Roxas just opts for smiling back at her.]

Nice to meet you. I'm Roxas.

( one )

[babydoll has always wanted to escape, get away from the constricted world that she had been forced into, but this isn't what she had in mind. the last she remembers of home is the soldiers, how close they had been to killing her, and then imps happened. they caught her off-guard, to say the least.

and now she's here, stuck awkwardly near one of the hallways of the castle, relieved that her weapons are still on her person.

it takes her a moment to really recognize the situation- she was so close to getting the map. the mix of disappointment and fear does not settle well in her stomach. her awkwardness quickly disperses as she looks at the map that she was given not long ago, memorizing the names of each place. if she's going to be here a while, she may as well know what she's doing.

with a sigh, she glances up towards the crowd again. she's decidedly sticking in one spot in case sweet pea or rocket or anyone show up nearby.]

This is really not good.

[it's murmured under her breath, but it doesn't make it any less true.]

bilbo baggins | the hobbit (dos)

[personal profile] somethingprecious 2014-03-17 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
[1. - caer glaem]

[Bilbo Baggins was at a complete loss.

Surely, surely he thought that after everything he had been through, all the horrors and utterly strange experiences, that he could feel at least a little bit prepared for anything else the Gods felt like throwing at him. That while the current that swept him from his home over a year ago continually threatened to drown him at the worst of times, that by now he at least knew how to swim well enough to keep his head above the water.

This... This was completely beyond him and he hardly knew where to start when the idea of returning home surfaced. After all if everything he was told was true, if the map in his hands was right, he was very far from home indeed.

Bilbo sat on a marble bench with a view of a garden before him that reminded him fondly of Rivendell. Everything felt so much like the familiar lands he once traveled and yet at the same time they were completely different. Bilbo didn't feel he was wise enough to understand the strange disconnection between this world and his, but it tickled his mind still. The idea of an entirely new world, full of potential and discoveries was dampened by the grim reminder of what exactly he left behind before arriving here unwillingly.

He sighed, looking down at the locket with a frown as he turns it over between his hands, fingers tracing the intricate design. Next to him on the bench is the map he was originally given, wrinkled from already constant use.]

No one's brooding.

[ snapped, like derek's insulted. he is seriously considering abandoning her to the hoard of fairies, but he knows that if he did, he'd never hear the end of it from scott and stiles. ]

Just stay close. We'll find the others.

[ staying in groups is for the best, though derek sounds genuinely pained to be admitting this. ]

[ Jack, by contrast, has spent so long today cartwheeling with the sylphs that he's a little wilder in looks than usual and perching on the armrest of the sofa is a more than natural reflex. He does, however, looks chagrined all over when the young lady accepts his apology, because almost immediately afterward the cake ices over and he ... is very confused. Did he do that? ]

Sorry! [ He's just made of apologies today, apparently. Reaching over to pluck the cake out of her hands, he lets a layer of hoarfrost encase it all over in his palm, almost to hide the evidence. ] I must've made it colder than I thought when I tapped it the first time.

[ ... Tossing it casually over a shoulder now. EVIDENCE GONE, so smooth. ]
