arthur pendragon ♔ merlin ( bbc )
one would think and one would be a bigger idiot than Merlin to think so.
Because for all that he has been through, being dragged about by little troll-like creatures is downright insulting.
( he is not, he is not admitting they managed to knock him out.
to a n y o n e )
needless to say, the whole being dragged out by weird ugly beings to a place that wasn't Camelot left Arthur somewhat unhappy.
or royally pissed off.
he looks down one of the cups, inspects the golden liquid with an expression that reads of utter, unadulterated disgust. ]
I am not drinking that.
no subject
I don't think they're going to poison us, if that's what's worrying you.
[ ... Probably not the best opening line, really, but Hermione takes a deep breath and holds out her hand, back straight and expression as open and friendly as she can force it to be, given the awkwardness of the situation as a whole. ]
I'm Hermione Granger.
no subject
[ said with some skepticism, as if he isn't sure the name is quite legit nor the girl attached to it if she makes such ludicrous proposals such as this one ( of course it's poisoned. or tempered with by some arse of a sorcerer or worse fairy). ]
We cannot be entirely sure of such, hence, we are not taking any unnecessary risks. It is best not to receive favors from kidnappers.
no subject
And yet no one around us is fainting because of a sleeping potion or passing out because of a Draught of Living Death, are there? I think if we were being poisoned it would be a little more obvious, don't you?
no subject
-- You seem to be overly familiar with poisons.
[ the draught of the living what, now. ]
no subject
They aren't poisons. They're potions.
no subject
[ wow hermione, he may be medieval but he's not dumb!! ]
no subject
[ GOSH WHAT SCHOOL DID YOU EVEN GO TO??? ]
no subject
I know that which you speak of, Hermione Granger; 'tis a dangerous thing.
[ and he says her name right this time, his voice heavier around her. ]
no subject
Do you mean magic? What do you think brought you here, exactly?
[ She's soured towards him, now, lips pursing. ]
no subject
[ or if one trusts the likes of Merlin with it but nevermind!!! ]
And if magic has taken me away from a kingdom I vowed to protect, I do not see how you hope to present it as anything welcomed.
no subject
[ She purses her lips, taking a deep breath and counting backwards from ten. ]
Have you tried asking someone about it, or perhaps trying to figure out what good you could do here so you can go home?
no subject
[ he sighs; it's not that he ignores her annoyance because she is right, at least partly. if he can offer his protection for this land he would do so. but to aid those of magic is --
well unheard of. magic has taken too much from Arthur and though he doesn't hate it, no, he is not his father; but he is wary and weary of it. ]
If I can aid this land against its troubles, I shall certainly attempt to, with all that I can; but my kingdom needs my protection, we are at war. As much as I wish I could offer to stay in these borders, I cannot quite do so when my own kingdom is in peril. I would sooner aid this land from Camelot than discard it.
(no subject)
no subject
Why, it doesn't appear to look foul or tainted. What do you suppose it is?
no subject
I cannot guess, my Lady. But for all that it looks, I do not trust it. I advice you not to either. If you are as lost as I am to these lands, I would not wish you harmed.
no subject
[ But it's ... probably a little weird to admit why, so she goes on with a polite curtsy. ]
A pleasure to make your acquaintance, sir. [ She's her father's daughter, which is why she keeps her godmother-given name to herself and supplants it with a proper title. ] I am Princess Aurora, if it please you. I hope I otherwise find you well.
no subject
[ he curtsies; he doesn't think he heard of a Princess Aurora before. surely he would have, as once every princess was brought into the castle in hopes of some alliance by marriage or another. Still, even if she isn't of his kingdom Arthur's instinct is always to protect and to honor. ]
I am King Arthur Pendragon, of Camelot. I do not know which fairies you have met -
[ and honestly, Aurora, it's odd that you have met any. perhaps a bit suspicious, too. ]
But I urge you to take care. These have kidnapped us all.
no subject
[ Disagreeing with a king makes her rather nervous, but she would much rather speak her mind. ]
no subject
[ why did no one ask him for the love of - ]
You have. If I may ask, Princess, on what accounts did they have you join them and leave your kingdom?
no subject
Probably because you're so grumpy, Arthur.]Well, I was alone at the time and they led me through the great fireplace. It was empty, but I ... Do you know, I don't recall how I came to be here, I kept my eyes on them all the while. They said they needed my help.
Why don't you believe them, Your Grace? Fairies never lie.
no subject
(boy she thinks, rather shrewdly, but there is no sense in making enemies where there are none.)
the garb certainly helps him stick out from some of the others in their... interesting clothing choices at least, something more alike to the southerners than anything in the North with their furs and boiled leathers, but certainly more familiar to her than anything else out here.
she makes her way over all the same, watching him carefully for a moment before finding the smile that her mother had taught her and dipping into a gracious - if a little stiff - curtsey. ]
My lord, [ look at that, she can be nice. she wants to take a sword to everyone in here and fight her way home, but one cannot always have what the heart wants, and at any rate she doesn't have a sword, and it's been far too long since her fingers grasped one. ] tell me. Do you know of Westeros?
[ a girl can dream, can't she? ]
no subject
At least it was. When he sees Arthur, and his sour expression, he walks over and leans close, lifting an eyebrow. ]
It looks harmless to me.
no subject
no, that would be wrong, since there is more than one trouble with merlin. in face, arthur is rather certain he counted 645 troubles with merlin. but one of them is that merlin doesn't quite know how to make himself known like every other person in the world. No, merlin has to make himself known rudely, suddenly and always unexpectedly. ]
Merlin!
[ he nearly drops the glass because it's not that merlin had startled him (as if that could ever happen!!) but he was just suddenly there.
(which is the same as being startled but arthur would rather drink whatever is in that glass rather than admitting that. ]
what the hell are you doing skulking about here?
no subject
That's me.
[ He looks offended for a moment, crossing his arms. ]
I could ask you the same thing - I'm here to help people, aren't you?
no subject
she's light on her feet as she makes her way through the crowds easily, taking a few moments to pause and look around, being sure that her friends aren't here. a part of her is relieved that they haven't been dragged here, too. she stops beside arthur and, though she knows there's someone beside her, she doesn't acknowledge his presence until he speaks.]
Then don't.
[she barely tilts her head to look up at him, eyebrow just barely quirking up as she waits for his answer.]
