Susan Pevensie | Chronicles of Narnia
[this is not the first time Susan has been spirited away against her will. It's happened twice before. This, however, is the first time that she is taken against her will by something tangible. True there is still the feel of magic, but it is not as mysterious and powerful as the magic that pulled her to Narnia.
She isn't sure how to feel about this new world or the task laid out to her. Again, not completely unfamiliar territory but one she never had to face without her siblings at her side.
She is wary and wishes she had her bow. Thankfully the air of Narnia is still fresh in her lungs. It gives her strength she wouldn't otherwise feel]

[Perhaps something else she didn't expect just yet is to come face to face with her younger brother, still in his Narnian garments, a hand on his sword as he pushes through the crowd.
He gives her a sharp once-over as soon as he's in front of her.]
I didn't think anyone else made it. Have you seen Peter or Lucy?
no subject
[she doesn't miss that he is also still in his Narnian garb. Why are they here? When they walked through that tree-door, they were supposed to be going back to England]
No, I haven't. I don't like it, Ed.
no subject
[Knowing in his innermost heart that Aslan isn't involved somehow...doesn't make it easier to swallow. That means the fae interfered with Aslan's magic and succeeded halfway, if only he and Susan were snatched.]
no subject
Why just us, though? Why not Peter and Lucy, too? Did they make it back to England all right, you think?
switches to younger ed icons;;
Admittedly, we hadn't read much on folklore before our first encounter with Narnia, but the fae have always been known for ensnaring the unsuspecting. Faerie circles. [Edmund says the last bit quietly, mostly to himself.] Could it have been the order we went through the door? No, You were after Peter, I went after you. If Peter and Lucy aren't here, they must have made it to England.
/pinches his cheeks
How strange. I'm too old to go back to Narnia, but apparently not too old to be here. You and I are in the middle... D'you suppose that's why we were chosen and not Peter or Lucy?
<3
It's a possibility we shouldn't rule out, but I'm not entirely satisfied with it. I suggest we look around the area some more before we come to a better conclusion.

[Well, he sounds English and wears a Nelson-era naval uniform, Susan. And he's got a sort of half-hearted smile on his face. Kind, but a bit unsure. Not shy, exactly, just a little awkward like any teen boy speaking to a stunningly beautiful girl for the first time. Still, there's sincerity to the advice. He sits by Susan purely by chance, and doesn't appear to have touched a thing at the table.]

I know, thanks.

It was only good advice. Not everyone's nurse used to cast hot coals into their used bathwater every night. I remember telling her when I first read A Midsummer Night's Dream and she was aghast at the misinformation I was being fed. She gave my schoolmaster an earful after that. Lucky she only spoke Scots and he didn't.
[Not shy at all, really. Trying to get a smile out of her.]

See how she moves this conversation away from fairies]
Oh, I do love Shakespeare. Which one of his plays is your favorite?
no subject
You can't have a favorite, not really, but I memorized The Tempest a few years ago. Anthony and Cleopatra I know good bits of, not that you want to hear me recite it or anything else, though I admit to being capable of a thrilling dramatic reading of Clark's Complete Handbook of Seamanship. Alas that Drury Lane, while practically home, was not my calling.

His eyes light up when he spots the young woman coming his way.]
Queen Susan!

She can't help smiling, despite how awkward she suddenly feels]
Caspian! I... it's a nice surprise to see you here.
no subject
And every time he sees it, her smile is prettier than the last.]
It's rather a surprise to be here at all, isn't it? But I'm glad to see you.
no subject
[did she already say that? She probably did. She can't help thinking of those last words: I wish we had more time. And her parting kiss, without giving him a time to respond. Now they have time and she's unsure of herself.
True she's had boys and later men vie for her attention, but none of them really interested her. And now the first one who actually did is here. She doesn't know how to handle this]
Is everything all right in Narnia?
no subject
[He frowns at that - he hates the idea of leaving Narnia without its king. Still, if he's here, he assumes Aslan must know.]
Have you been well, Susan?
no subject
[she smiles at him, beginning to take a stroll. She's sure he'll follow] I can't say. I haven't even gotten back to England yet. One minute I was leaving Narnia and the next I was here.
no subject
So barely a moment has passed since we've last seen each other then. [Curious, that. He gestures around as they walk.] What do you make of all this?
