That much I do have faith in and always have.

[ His golden eyes rest on her, seeing not only her outward appearance but looking to the state of her heart; inviting her to speak. ]

[personal profile] marksqueen 2014-03-18 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[there is only one thing she can think to say. It's the same thing that's been bothering her for a while]

Are we going to be asked to leave this place once we've done what they want? Will we be sent home?
maned: (patience.)

Many stay. The race of Adam lives toward the south.

[ Which is all he will say to that, his gaze never wandering from hers. The grief of leaving Narnia is still fresh for her, he does not need to be himself to see and understand that. ]

I know the language spoken here, it came from the land long ago, before my eyes ever opened. I know the manner of creatures here too, what ventures into the wilderlands may remain in them. But, Susan, this land will eat your heart if you let it. Neither good nor evil, it simply is.

[personal profile] marksqueen 2014-03-18 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[it was a reasonable question to ask. She doesn't want to get too attached like she did the first time she was in Narnia. The second time she was more cautious and she still ended up forming bonds. Saying goodbye to Reepicheep, Trumpkin, Caspian and above all Aslan... It was painful for her]

I'll watch out for Lucy. She's much more likely to fall in love with this place. I'll be sure her heart isn't eaten. I won't let this place hurt her.

[ Raising his great head, he stops their pacing at the end of a corridor, the open air of a small garden ahead. Speaks as he senses. ]

Caer Glaem will protect you. The trees and beasts yearn to stay close to it, it will serve you better than not to stay here. For my part, I must speak with the White Hart whom I would call cousin.

[personal profile] marksqueen 2014-03-18 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
The White Hart. Is this creature like you? Wild but good?

"Yeah, well, I'm innocent in this. Imps got me too you know." He wasn't going to take the blame for this magic. Even if it had been some weird wish by Jafar, Will was fairly certain he'd remember making the wish happen.

The anxiety of the elf was getting to him. Will was generally a suspicious man by nature, but he didn't go around acting as though someone might jump out at him at any given moment. "Look, maybe if you cut back you might figure out if you were dreaming." His words might have been a stronger argument if he didn't finish off his own glass as he said them.

"Nah, never heard of those lands. I'm from...bit of all over." He wasn't ready to call the Enchanted Forest home out loud just yet.

Yes. I know him well or I did, a long time ago. He is not an unkind king yet wilder than I. As I knew him, his Father was the earth itself and his Mother the air.

[ His shoulder nudges her fondly. ]

I should not ask to ride on his back, if you meet.
torc: (➴ pride.)

Where I come from the earth is old - wise - and the trees are strong and tall.

[ A far-away look passes over her eyes. Britain will always be where her heart truly lies - the land she was born of calls to her, makes her restless despite the way her memories calm her heart. ]

The land rolls like a green sea, and the sky - [ She turns back to the view from the balcony. ] You'd think it endless - that you could step from a white cliff and fall into its arms.

[ She sips from her cup of water. ]

Our Roman invaders call it the conquered land of Britannia, but I call it a home worth fighting for.

[ Which might explain the bow, Thranduil. And just wait 'til she gets her hands on some knives. ]

[In his current timeline he had not yet had the pleasure of actually meeting the Elvenking yet, only watching him and those below him from the shadows until he could help the Dwarves escape their prisons.

It was an extremely awkward position for him to be in and while seemingly necessary (confounded Thorin with his blasted temper) he could not shake the guilt he felt staying in a home (unknowingly) unwelcome and uninvited. Somehow he would have to repay the King for Bilbo was nothing if not at least decently well-mannered.

So imagine his surprise when he is approached by the Elfking himself. Bilbo straightens up, the locket in his hand forgotten for the moment in favor for Thranduil's friendly words. Something didn't add up here.]

Certainly I am Bilbo, but a magnificent Hobbit is doubtful. [As does the title Elf-friend, but he'll roll with the punches here as best he can.] No, I am but a simple Hobbit, your Majesty.
firith: (sumac ·)

[personal profile] firith 2014-03-18 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Fascinated by the ... no, not simple manners, the gentle dismissal of a title hard-won from battle and easily gained with a simple gesture of friendship and regret, Thranduil tilts his head curiously as he comes to a stop nearby with both hands clasped behind his back. ]

You speak as one wearied. [ Keen eyes have not failed to notice what Bilbo was doing, even from a distance and before their task halted. ] Does the locket trouble you so?
firith: (larkspur ·)

[personal profile] firith 2014-03-18 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[ A good and wholesome land, then. He can envy that a little, even as much as he loves the wearied Mirkwood. ]

You have the look of a marchwarden about you. A warrior of the land, for the land, much like the elves who defend my borders.

Re: dovahkiin ( elder scrolls v )

[personal profile] restandbegrateful 2014-03-18 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[ After a moment hesitating in the doorway, watching the armored figure leave... another follows quietly, bare feet soundless on the way, though his own, lighter armor rustles in a manner no doubt familiar to the dovahkiin.

Fenris has been trapped in the party long enough to drink himself drunk and then to sober again. He's an even height for an elf, but short by human standards, and the cruel shape of his gauntleted hands neatly grip the stems of two champagne glasses. One, he wordlessly offers to the pale-haired warrior. ]

You look roughly as I did, when they told me there was no leaving.

[ His voice has the roughness of one who speaks rarely, drinks much, and is approximately bitter enough to sour an ocean. ]

[He is not the only one roaming.

Neria Surana wanders the halls as well, ever watchful, for she does not trust the people in this place any more than she would trust the nobility of any hall. She has had experience with these things - fleeting as it was - and she knows that wherever she goes, she will be looked down upon by those above her. She is an elf, she is a mage; one of these things will be reviled and hated. But she carries both like a cloak and she is unapologetic for what and who she is. The few who have spoken to her here at Caer Glaem seem more interested in what she can offer than in her status (for now), and that is something she can work with, at least.

But there are odd creatures here, things she's never seen before. A spell wisp wraps itself around her in loops, casting a faint light in its wake, and she gives a wary glance over at the lion who pads near her.

She's even more startled to hear him suddenly chuckle.]

...Did you just laugh?
maned: (patience.)

[personal profile] maned 2014-03-18 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Attention caught by the wispy lights of the spell the woman cloaks herself in, he comes to a stop at a respectable distance to answer her mildly. ]

I'd not heard the joke before.

[ And the fairies are dearly cheerful little things, he doesn't mind them perching on his mane. ]
torc: (➴ swan.)

[ A warrior of the land, for the land. Guinevere couldn't have put it better herself. She nods, folding her arms and cradling her cup close to her chest. ]

My mother died to protect our land. I would do the same.

[ She glances back towards Thranduil, still considering him curiously. ]

And what will your elves do in your absence? Will your borders remain defended without your orders?

[Fairy tales are for children. But Porthos can't deny what he's seeing with his own eyes. He walks slowly through the party, towering above most of the guests. The food smells good here; better than anything in the Court of Miracles, that's for sure. The big man picks up a goblet, his mouth a soft frown as he sniffs it before taking a drink.]

Got a nice kick to it, and the price is right.

[Porthos looks back over one shoulder with a grin, and then the other. Right. He'll get used to imps and fairies faster than he could not having other Musketeers at his side.]
sublimity: (You’ll come back when they call you.)

[personal profile] sublimity 2014-03-18 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oof.

He should have expected that, really, standing in the midst of a crowd busy with food and drink. Alas, he was too busy observing his surroundings whilst keeping an eye out for his siblings. That split second he spent scrutinising the side profile of a girl with similar height and hair to his sister across the room made it too late for him to step out of the way. At least he managed to catch her before they both took a fall.]

Are you all right, Miss?

[By the Maker. And it - he - talks too. Her eyes are wide with surprise as she regards the large animal.]

I've never heard a lion speak before.

[But then she remembers herself and she tips her head politely.]

I apologize. You probably have heard the same many times before me.

[Relief swamps him when his eyes finally land on Aslan, the candlelight bouncing radiantly off of the great lion's mane. He gives a deep, respectful bow.]

Aslan. [This time he can approach, knowing his faith has not wavered.]
foreshadowing: (☠topping swank bitches)

[personal profile] foreshadowing 2014-03-18 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
We've been indoctrinated into piracy first. [ There isn't even the vaguest semblance of resistance, really. Jolly takes the apple the very moment it's offered- spins it idly between his palms. ] Do you imagine fairies understand precedence? No, probably not.

[ His teeth leave an imperfect circle torn away from the apple's side, and he hasn't even swallowed by the time he offers it back. ]
counterbalanced: ([lww] I give you King Edmund the Just)

[personal profile] counterbalanced 2014-03-18 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Relief loosens Edmund's tongue, and his wit.]

I should hope so, considering I'm standing right next to you.

[Now that he's found Peter, something in him relaxes. All of his siblings are here. He sees with his own eyes that they are safe, and yet for how much longer? Perhaps it would have been better if Peter and Lucy had made it to England after all.]
firith: (alder ·)

[personal profile] firith 2014-03-18 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
They will. My people are unmatched in their ability to endure through loss or strife. Though I long for home, I know all within my halls will stand as one in my absence.

[ Sindar and Silvan alike, they are stronger together and know it. ]

And what of this land, Guinevere? Glaschu has called us here to protect its interests and innocents.

[personal profile] marksqueen 2014-03-18 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[if Aslan knows this White Hart and claims him as an acquaintance, Susan will do her best to be polite and respectful should their paths ever cross. But she will also be careful. Because a being even wilder than Aslan is far beyond what she can even imagine, let alone handle]

Aslan, I don't have my bow or my horn. I left them in Narnia.

There are birds in the trees, which whisper their words in the wind for those who will listen and heed their words. That is where my role is, as it has always been.

[Radagast said as he leaned down to pick up a small mouse which had simply stopped by to greet him. Wars will always be fought, but his duty has been to the living creatures who need his protection even here. That's whose side he's on.]

No doubt you have your part to play as well. [The wizard remarks, his gaze sharp as he turns to Fëanor once more.]
