captain hook | once upon a time
alas, at least it's not neverland.
and even then, ever changing scenery is much in the nature of a pirate, and as such, he doesn't head for the exit immediately. instead, hook lingers off to the side, eyes scanning the vast amount of people... waiting for just the right one to stop with a greeting of his own kind. ]
How many do you reckon will believe the story told us here?
no subject
He quirks a brow in question. ]
Should you not already believe it if you have answered the summons?
[ Both the King and the Prince of the Woodland Realm arrived of their own free will. A summon has been sent, envoys of fairies that have informed him of the matters. Seeing no reason to refuse, Legolas agreed and he has been lead to this strange land that's steadily growing stranger and stranger with every moment passed. ]
no subject
[ the feast might be there to welcome them, to sooth their concerns-- but if he was entirely willing, there would be no need for them. and hook is one to always question, to make his own way, set his own path. this place, this task, it's no different to him. ]
Something tells me I'm hardly the only one, either.
[ which leads to wonder why his new pointy-eared friend is so eager to do as he is told. ]
They should have simply summoned more like yourself.
no subject
Perhaps, but the choice was not their to make if I understand the matters correctly. [ He speaks softly, swiftly, with no judgement nor ill will, merely with disappointment colouring his words. ] Though they should not have taken the choice of another's, if they wished not to come they should not have to.
[ A pause for a thought, a memory of times dark, where choices were nothing but a temptation that could never come true. When one choice lead through dangers beyond any measure without even a trace of hope for success, and another to certain enslavement and destruction of all life in Middle-Earth. A choice only in a name, truly. ]
Yet there may have been no other way as well... To question what you are told and what you see is wise, until doubts set you back from progressing.
[ The ever helpful elven counsel, neither a yes or a no, or both at once a yes and a no, though Legolas does not intend it as such. A statement, an opinion and lastly a thought to himself for consideration. ]
no subject
She relishes the chance to speak to someone, perking up and smiling a little, tilting her head. ]
A few, I think? It's not the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, not really.
no subject
Ridiculous or not, the place hardly garners any trust. [ the place, the story of what is going on or how they're supposed to help. it all makes his hook itch almost, as if unwariness really is seeping into his skin. ]
Tell me, girl, where do you come from?
no subject
That's true. They could've asked instead of bringing us here, I suppose, but maybe that defeats the whole purpose of whatever it is they're trying to do. [ She breathes out, pursing her lips a little.
At the simple 'girl' she purses her lips, crossing her arms. ]
My name is Hermione Granger and I'm from England.

I'm not one to believe very easily, sir.
no subject
Sounds like sense to me. Something most here seem to be lacking.
no subject
People do often lose sense when they confront magic. I've lived with magic for a while now, so maybe that's the difference.

it's something completely different to show up here, and be told that, and then all but waved off and told to enjoy yourself because you're now fighting a war. at least he knew the enchanted forest, had gotten in and out and back and away again so many times, what's one more? this? this was something different, and while the magic and the faeries and the people didn't quite bother him, this isn't where he wants to be. these aren't the people he wants to be with.
and even if hook is a welcome sight for his familiarity alone, it doesn't make this better. if he and hook ended up here, what does that mean for regina's curse? ]
Depends on how many of us aren't supposed to be here. [ oh hey hook, did you mean to pull him aside? ] Have you seen Regina? Or the Charmings?
no subject
color him surprised as it ends up being you, neal, he finds and not yet another stranger. ]
Baelfire.
[ he could linger on it, on him being there out of all the possibilities, but past times tell him this isn't the moment for it, so hook proceeds forward with what is being said. ]
Not much of a riddle if the vast number of unhappy faces tell anything. [ and indeed there are plenty of those who are, just like them, upset with their present predicament. but much like baelfire, hook is pleased to find a familiar face amongst the crowds, and perhaps even more so than once boy, now man.
as for regina or the charmings, he shakes his head once. ]
Cannot say I have. Perhaps it is better so.

[ true love, etc. -- even though she's more jaded now than a fairy ought to be. of course, she's not a fairy anymore, though she occasionally forgets that fact. without faith or pixie dust, she's wayward and wingless.
even so, she recognizes this as distinctly un-fairy-like behavior. how dare they name themselves pixies. ]
I don't think it entirely true, but they haven't attempted to paint a picture of innocence, anyway. [ what with the kidnappings, requests to murder other beings, and candid declarations of fatal consequences as incentive for cooperation in their crimes. ] Hello, Hook.
no subject
Tinkerbell. You would be the one I find here.
[ they're your weird cousins or something, aren't they? ]
Don't suppose you're willing to come find the door out with me? I'm done with this festive gathering.
no subject
[ wow rude tho!! ] No fairy would willingly have anything to do with this. [ she gestures to everything. fairies are twee, not tacky. still, with a nod and small smile: ] Lead the way then. I imagine the crowds are more willing to part for you.
[ tiny tink vs. tall, dark, and shady. she's just sayin' ]

[It was a relief to see a familiar face, even if it wasn't something she was comfortable admitting aloud. Of all the potential allies she could have stumbled into in this place, Hook was somewhere near the top of the list -- and wasn't that just a little surprising, considering they'd initially gotten off on the entirely wrong foot.
She approaches him with her arms folded tightly over her chest, closed off, doing a quick scan of their surroundings as she slows to a halt.]
The feast itself is like when you take a kid out for ice cream to try and sugarcoat crappy news. I'm not buyin' any of it.
no subject
but this isn't the time for that, and he somehow doubts she'd appreciate him making time for it right now either. so have him pause, surprised, and then offer her a very familiar, charming to the core smirk. ]
Of course not, love. Who better to question everything going on here than you? [ she's always got the paranoia thing going for her, something they can all use in this situation. ]
I must admit, I am a little surprised they managed to capture you along with the rest of us, Swan.
no subject
Considering the evidence and the luxury? Most, I imagine. People can be easily swayed.
[More's the pity.]
But you don't believe a word of it, do you?
no subject
[ kinda goes hand in hand with the pirate thing he knows a little about. but despite that, despite whatever it is they're telling them, hooks steps forward with something close to a shake of his head. ]
Swayed one too many times, I'm afraid. Leaves room for plenty of doubt in a situation like this.
no subject
[She doesn't trust such powerful creatures and whatever promises they may have. Being told that they are 'special' doesn't sway her much; instead, it only gives her more cause to be wary.]
But you still came willingly, didn't you? Why?
no subject
Moving to one side, out of his way just in case, Belle lifts her head and looks as stern, confident and determined as she possibly can, swallowing back the strange little lump of fear in her throat. Hook was on their side now, she reminds herself, there's no reason to be afraid of him. Not anymore. ]
Enough, don't you think? Especially those of us from the Enchanted Forest.
no subject
Another fine moment where the the good fall for the tricks, then.
[ he knows his allegiance has shifted and changed a lot recently, but shaking off who he'd been before, what he'd done-- none of it is particularly easy, and even less so in a place like this. ]
Tell me, just who all are from the Enchanted Forest here?
[ murder might be in the past, especially with the dark one's death, but he'd like to know if there are any others to keep an eye out for. ]
(no subject)
hihi. sending u love from bama.
So far? I'm hoping most of 'em have enough common sense not to buy the load of crap.
[They'd cover more ground and make more progress if there were more skeptics willing to work together. Dean had been through this before and was treating it like any other case.]
8) <333
[ this coming from someone who is considered a fairytale character and more than used to it must have some sort of irony to it. but as is, hook looks at dean with a pause, as right now he'll take what or whoever he can to question this place. ]
They're free to believe what they want, but I for one am not going to stay stranded here.

Re: captain hook | once upon a time
I should think that would be harder to tell than a simple guess. It all depends on their background, their lives. Where they're from. The trials they've endured.
