People can go longer without food than water. Perhaps if we boil it first, it might be all right...

[personal profile] marksqueen 2014-03-18 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
When I was much younger. Once the war started, there wasn't much time for leisure.

[He's from a world where the future is a malleable thing. Each change can possibly produce an alternate. The theory of multiple futures is only one step away from the theory of multiple worlds. His systems can accept the idea without freezing up or glitching.]

Yes. The world I am from has clear differences from this one.

I am.... [He trails off. Finishing the sentence with 'a Terminator' no longer feels natural. He hasn't been a killing machine in a while. He thinks of suitable terms that the woman might be familiar with, a list popping up in the left side of his vision.] ...I am a robot. Cyberdyne Systems Model 101.
unclebob: (Trust me)

[personal profile] unclebob 2014-03-18 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
Someone tried to terminate me. [ Fortunately for the Terminator's sake, his severe injuries don't seem to be causing him any pain. There's a grim, satisfied smirk. He'd shown the T-1000 who the better cyborg was once and for all.]

He failed.
infant: (he was so full of wrath)

[personal profile] infant 2014-03-18 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ The look he gives her as he pulls away is one of deepest betrayal, never mind they only just met and he hardly knows her; it's such a crime to have grown up that Peter's attitude cools immediately, a haughty cant lifting his chin. ]

Then I will withdraw, woman, and leave you be.

[personal profile] marksqueen 2014-03-18 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
[look it hurts her, too. Growing up means she can never go back to Narnia, and she had just learned that very recently. Of course Peter doesn't know, but she can't help the hurt that enters her eyes.

She holds her head high and gives him another curtsey]

It was my honor and pleasure speaking with you.
unclebob: (Talking)

[personal profile] unclebob 2014-03-18 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
[The Terminator looks down at the boy through his torn-up face. The boy must have some courage to approach the machine in the ragged, bloody state he's in. The machine wonders if he is a native to this place, decked out as he is in his clothing, and with a sword to boot.]

I have not. [Internally, his system looks over the weapon, noting its position and the hand hovering close by. Clearly, it is a familiar weapon, one which could do serious damage, if not to him, than to the other people at the feast. He remembers what the T-1000 could do with its limbs. His red eye pulses a little as it recognizes a potential threat. He's going to be keeping an eye on Peter.]
infant: (i seek you out)

[personal profile] infant 2014-03-18 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ There's no bow forthcoming, he simply flies up above into the rustling canopy, pausing only to lend her a disgruntled, callous sort of expression. ]

Goodbye, Susan. You have killed your own magic, but I shan't let you harm mine.

[ The leaves shiver as he rushes through them, far off into the sky with a train of fairies in tow. ]

[ She nods her head, trying to look at least a little bit happier. She's lost and confused but at least that's not an entirely new scenario. ]

He's about a head taller than me with scruffy brown hair. I wish I had a photo of him...

[ She pauses, looking down at her very fairytale-esque dress. Not going to get much help here. ]

He also goes by the name of Neal, if that helps?

[ Hermione nods, tilting her head, before she smiles. ]

It's a bad habit, I'm afraid. I get a little tangled up in things sometimes - that and I'm not particularly hungry.
brainiest: (the little things)

[personal profile] brainiest 2014-03-18 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ Perking up at the voice, pretending as though it didn't make her jump a little, Hermione ducks her head as a flush spreads over her cheeks. She hadn't realised anyone was likely to hear her and she feels a little uncomfortable now. ]

It's a bad habit, but this is a special occasion as well.

[ Very smooth, and it's enough to relax Hermione. Closing the map, she shoves it into her bag and stands, holding out her hand slowly. ]

Hermione Granger.
counterbalanced: ([lww] Of course it would be raining)

[personal profile] counterbalanced 2014-03-18 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Boiling might work on bacteria but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if enchantments held through it.

We'll have to find another source. More importantly, we'll have to tread carefully with these faeries. While we don't plan to stay, offending our hosts would be unwise.
loveordeath: (014)

[personal profile] loveordeath 2014-03-18 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't mind it too much, [she taps the cigarette, ashes dropping on the floor,] At least no one's trying to kill me.

[Her nonchalance could be all play. Depends on how good Effy is seeing beyond the obvious.]
loveordeath: (008)

[personal profile] loveordeath 2014-03-18 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Terminate you.

[Odd choice of words. Maybe it's some kind of synonym for a cleaner-?]

Why is it - like that?

[Unnatural.]
lightcatcher: (Default)

[personal profile] lightcatcher 2014-03-18 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[At least they're on the same page here, that has to count for something? Not for much accord, but still.]

What is your role in all of this?

[It's a twofold question - is he with those that are behind it in some way, and if not, what side would he be on.]
beleg: (disturbed)

you probably mixed me up with someone else. But thank you!

[personal profile] beleg 2014-03-18 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[With the name Feanor, Beleg stiffened as well. As with his King Elu Thingol, Beleg has no love for the Kinslayers. And that name... He remembered very well Lady Luthien's tale of her time in Nargothrond. But for a Noldor, especially one who had belonged to the proudest house of the Noldor to greet him with such respect was certainly not what he expected.]

I admit that this is the first I have heard of one who would leave that House. And that they would suffer someone to do so.

[personal profile] lightcatcher 2014-03-18 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's a strange place indeed, and Fëanor is no happier to be here than Beleg. But here he is, and for different reasons - his own quarters are spacious enough, but he's also the only one there and he is still hoping to find others from home. Specifically his sons, though he won't say no to knowing that anyone is here. Knowledge of such things is never wrong.

This is also the only reason why he approaches Beleg - he doesn't know him or his affiliations and doesn't think that he cares to, but it is easy enough to tell with a high probability that he would be one of the elder children left behind in Middle Earth, and if anyone is going to be able to reliably tell him if he has seen someone from either side of the ocean, it would be someone who comes from that world as well.

...His entry would be a lot more impressive if he was more used to escalators. Seriously though. But yeah, he'll put his full attention to getting up those moving stairs in one piece before looking around again to see if the Sindar is still where he saw him last.]

A squirrel? Nothing else?

[Aang is the furthest thing from a threat to the earth that you could get. He reaches his hand out slowly and goes to gently stroke the squirrel. He has a very light touch, but he likes to pet animals.]

I don't think I've met anyone who can hear the animals, but I have a friend who can hear the earth. She can feel everything that's going on under her feet, like if ants are making a hill or if a rock shifted or if there's a cave. She's tried to teach me, but I can still only hear the wind and what it's doing.

ZEUS | olimpos

[personal profile] impartialsky 2014-03-18 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ONE ]

[ fantastical as this place is, Zeus coasts a line between standing out like a sore thumb, and blending in to the scenery. many of those present, those called away by the fae appeared to be human, and though Zeus most certainly looks human, his ethereal nature make it plain that he is anything but. pale as marble, the downy white feathers of his wings are the only thing that shroud him like a cloak, and they force a circle of space around him for their size.

he would almost seem to belong here if he didn't linger near the head of the table, where the endless blue of his eyes scan the room and the feast laid out in a manner that exudes a brand of subtle curiousity. surely if he was native to this place he would be taking part in everything going on.

but if his strange appearance isn't enough to draw the eye, the fact that he wears nothing but the feathers of his wings certainly might. ]

[It's out of the way, and outside, and there is someone else sitting not too far away, exactly because of that, and is trying to figure out his device. The instructions that he got weren't too helpful, and so it is more trial and error.

Which he would normally be good with, but it is completely unlike anything that he has done before, so he has no real inroad. And being really bad at something and just not getting a shoe in on how it works is not a thing that he is used to, at least not in areas that he would be invested in. Which makes the already frustrating matter all the more frustrating.

Not that it means that he'll give up. He will figure this out. ...which means that he'll easily sit there one, two, three, five, twelve hours with his mind fully on the tablet, unless he is addressed by someone else.]

[he arches a brow at her, and he so badly wants to ask her why she's wearing a dress that makes her look like she's coming out of some very extravagant play, but he holds back. if he knew her, he probably would have asked about it by now.]

Doesn't ring any bells, either. And I dunno about you, but there are plenty of people here with brown hair that are taller than you.

[he motions to himself half-heartedly.]

I'll keep an eye out, though.

[ An incline of his head in a nod passes for his agreement. No, he wouldn't coop up Legolas when there is a fair land to be explored. His son thrives when allowed to wander and seek out his own borders (although some needs must be implemented, such as those to the north. To the east, where the witches live, he knows Legolas is wise enough to have a care in his own right, without being instructed. The south seems a world given over to men, as ever it has been in their own world, and to the west ...

Thranduil is very curious about the dwarves of Troichean Beinn. ]

I will join you in Cothromach when I can. You need only send word.
mdma: (smile ❀ what's that sound)

[effy nods, a barely noticeable motion. it's true. she'd be a wreck if the things were trying to kill her, or anyone here.

still, she watches mathilda closely. she may be just as talented when it came to hiding any sort of vulnerability, but effy doubts that she's just as aloof as she sounds.]

You do mind it, don't you?
