[She spun at the touch, eyes widening briefly with surprise, before she burst into the same smile as she had always had, when she was still alive - bright and contagious.]

Artanis? Here is a meeting unlooked for; I would not have thought to find you here.

[Ragadast smells of bird poop and other scents to be found in the woods. Mostly bird poop though. But it's reassuring at the same time.

Elves have a good sense of direction yes, but that's mostly outside. As it is, it takes them an extra 15 minutes to actually find the way out instead of the 5 minutes it would take anyone else.

And Beleg remains entirely silent all along the way except to indicate which direction to go next.]

It was painful to watch them, quite often.

[So she had... given them a few nudges, here and there.]

Of course. She is almost my sister, and he is the cousin I was always getting in trouble when we were young.

Why?

[Her face falls, just a little.]

Don't I visit, wherever you are?

[well, that certainly prompts a frown.]

Just because you've been working alone doesn't mean you have to. We're comrades. I'd rather have someone I trust watching my back, anyway.
beleg: (thinking it over)

[Slowly, Beleg is feeling a bit more relaxed in her presence.

He's not entirely sure what she means by 'button things in the glass', but he does tap one of colorful box-like pictures on the glass, and blinks as the view in the glass changes entirely.

It turns into blocks of tiny pictures, different from the ones he'd seen before, all laid out neatly in rows and columns. He reads the only words he sees on the screen:]
Picture Gallery?
inafadingcrown: (Warm as sunlight)

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2014-03-24 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Nor I you. [And that was the truth, at least. She reaches out to take her friend's hands.] But it is a comfort to see a familiar face.

[The familiar sound of her name makes her turn and she smiles brightly at the sight of her mother. She almost drops her glass as she tries to step between other guests but she reaches Galadriel, somehow, without spilling it.]

Mother. Oh, I thought I wouldn't see you!
wildness: (I am not fond of sharing)

[personal profile] wildness 2014-03-24 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
[And who is this that deems themselves so important as to call out to her? Morrigan is uncertain whether she feels offended or curious at the intrusion, that someone might know what she is even in the form she wears. The cat seems put off, eyes narrowed, and then she is slipping past Galadriel and changing her form, becoming herself once more.]

You say that as though I was carrying a charade for you at all.

[It was for her own benefit, after all.]
deathdiduspart: (Not sure if dumb or what)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-24 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Nico wants to cross his arms, but there is a goblet in his hand and he'd rather not spill the contents all over the place. He can't deny that Jason does trust him since...he drank a cup full of poison for him.]

Comrades. Right. I can work faster and way more quieter on my own.

[He lifts the locket they all received after arriving here from the inside of his shirt, and looks somewhat resigned.]

Besides, free communication and no rainbows needed.
wildness: (do not be such a blind foold)

[personal profile] wildness 2014-03-24 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
[She is no stranger to thieves and their ilk, though this one seems much more content to push his limits in either court. The Unseelie look for him; the Seelie have no use for him. Morrigan finds him intriguing if not predictable, since she knows he will eventually return and look for more trinkets to pilfer. Whether he has a bounty on his head makes no difference.

She can think of a few people he reminds her of.

More to the point: Garrett is pushing his luck and Morrigan is in the right mood to investigate what has caught his eye. And so she follows him to one of the back rooms, one he's unlocked and slipped inside, and she slides in like a shadow, silent and unnoticed. Her cat eyes find him easily in the dark and she waits until she sees what he is doing - stealing a painting, this time - before she interrupts, her present form melting away to leave her standing there, arms folded.]

Well, well. What have we here?
deathdiduspart: (Not sure if dumb or what)

excuse me as I quietly scream over Nita

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-24 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Nico hasn't touched a thing, either. He glances at her when she asks the question, frowning slightly.]

I think it'd be safer to accept this as reality than something fake, if that's what you're asking.

[He looks more annoyed at this situation than alarmed.]
inafadingcrown: (You knew)

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2014-03-24 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
[She turns to face Morrigan, her eyes sharp and keen, but softened by amusement.

For the plants, then? For one usually dons a disguise only the presence of others. And, as I noted, I am alone here.
silvergift: ([050])

[personal profile] silvergift 2014-03-24 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I can only imagine.

[She bites back a laugh, imagining her father getting into trouble. So wise and in-control as he was in the eyes of others.

Oh... Of course she has to ask that.]

I am afraid not but mother speaks of you fondly. I just never realized how close you are.
Edited 2014-03-24 03:28 (UTC)
icy: that doesn't end up in a standoff. (you ever do anything.)

[personal profile] icy 2014-03-24 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's been a busy night for everyone and by the time most of them are ambling back to their bedrooms, the nocturnal fae are already going about their business. Jack doesn't sleep often, sometimes in trees on a particularly fluffy, snowy winter's evening, but tonight isn't like that. He glides through the corridors as silent as a ghost (haha god damn it), pausing here and there to freeze a picture frame as he explores.

It's only when he hears the scuffle of someone tripping over that he pauses and pokes his head around the corner where his fern-frost previously flourished ... right down the hallway. Whoops. Lips twitching into a smile, he mostly straightens them and leans casually on his staff. ]

You break any bones, kid, or are you alright?

I suppose you have the right of it - Father would hardly approve of my presence.

[She takes them warmly, smiling.]

But tell me, how came you to be here? Did the fairies lead you as well?

[Basch's head snaps up at the sound of his name. It's been too long since he's heard his own name, his true name, on the lips of any save Lord Larsa, and were it an unfamiliar voice his hand might've strayed to the hilt of his sword upon hearing it.]

[But oh, that voice. He knows that voice.]

[Instead he stands as if rooted to the spot, eyes widening in disbelief as his gaze settles on the man he watched die. The brother he buried, the identity he adopted and wears yet.]

Noah?

[He takes but one step toward the man, mind abuzz with possible explanations for this latest impossibility.]

Are these the halls of the dead, then, that I see you before me?
inafadingcrown: (the danger of light and joy)

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2014-03-24 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[And this- this- had been what she had been most angry at having been deprived. This reunion. It seems that she would not have to complete her voyage for it after all. She places her hands on Celebrian's shoulders, just barely restraining herself from pulling her into an embrace.]

And I worried that I would not see you.
inafadingcrown: (Counsel)

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2014-03-24 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
['Father.' Oh, how hearing Luthien say that pains her heart. Not that you would know it from her face- it's the same smile as ever, steady, not too revealing of what she's actually thinking.]

They did. If I had realized I would not be able to return, I might not have followed them so readily.

[ That one step forward is all it takes for Gabranth to cut short his own approach. If this is perhaps some illusion, some trickery or hallucination conjured by his dying mind... But no, surely all that he's seen so far can be no mere dream; he's close enough now to be certain, absolutely certain that what he sees now is his own brother in the flesh.

But why?

His upper lip twitches into a snarl as he searches for the words to respond. ]

If these are the halls of the dead, then what have you done to find yourself here? What has become of my name and station, that you should now appear before me like this?

[ He takes one step closer, voice dropping to a low growl. ]

What have you done?

"Not long, no. I've ... spent a few years around this kind of crazy stuff, it doesn't bother me. It's more homely than talking to normal people, actually."

But, not to delve into that. He skims the subject (three hundred years of solitude and loneliness does not a good afternoon tea discussion make), sitting on the railing and drawing up a knee.

"Back where I'm from, people don't ever see magic as clearly as they do here. It's a good thing, I suppose. You don't want the Pentagon freaking out because satyrs decided to romp on their front lawn or there's an evil witch living down the road."

[Everything's so small Janine's having trouble picking up on details. She's better with distant things.]

:Fancy! Yeah, that would be just a place where pictures are stored. If you touch one of those it'll get bigger. And you should be able to put more pictures in the gallery, but I actually have no idea how.:

The last bit caused Charles to chuckle, though the sound was more rueful than actually amused.

"The Pentagon does appear to have a very limited sense of humor," he agreed, in a tone that hinted at the fact that he may have had personal dealings with that lack of humor issue.

"I'm afraid that in my world the idea of magic is more about slightly of hand and illusion," he admitted. "What advice would you give someone who has limited experience with such concepts?"

It couldn't hurt to hear, from someone more familiar with such things, what he might face or experience while trapped in this strange land.

[There is a razor in hand as he cuts through the canvas, gently and quickly removing it from the frame, eyes already looking for other loot to grab. But when Morrigan speaks, he goes rigid for a second, hand to the Blackjack instantly. He doesn't immediately turn, however- he had made sure to loot the area when he was certain others would not be around, and most people make a riot when moving.

So how had this woman come in without him even hearing her?

Garrett's head turns slowly, right eye flaring a little as he inspects her, Focus telling him she's alert and aware, yet not hostile. Not yet, at least.]

That depends on what you think it is.

[Sarcasm. Clearly it's the best choice as of now. Confrontation is a possibility, but he wants to make sure he can get out of it first before striking.]

[ her cheeks darken with that laugh, though it's only because there's no chance of slipping away from the group unnoticed now, and oh, don't mind them, keep listening to the nice man's story, yes. turn around. good. she nods, taking his hand because it was very polite of him, offering to help her off the chair. she's not about to let her own awkwardness get in the way of a king gesture. as much as she doesn't like thinking about it ( because it's really embarrassing ) she really is new to the whole- making friends thing, so of course she notices how cold his hand is, but it's more of a passing thing, a curiosity. she won't ask why that is just yet, even if she's wondering. her body temperature doesn't run cold, but she doesn't flinch away from it. if anything it's comforting, in a really strange way.

she's not going to give it any thought, not more than the idea that maybe this is how most people feel when they meet someone with a common curse. no! not curse. a common gift.

quickly enough, just after they've left the crowded room, Elsa's breaking her short silence, not wanting to wait until they get outside.
]

I'm not sure what you meant by mess, but I assure you I won't be a part of it. Have you ever had to help mop up an entire ballroom before? [ she's... trying to be clever. but it's probably coming off as just corny. oh well. ] No, I learned a long time ago not to leave puddles behind. Or- enough snow to leave a large pond's worth of water if left to melt on its own.

[A quiet little huff of laughter] I guess we'll figure that out as we go.

Sometimes I just wish that they'd tell you what you're supposed to work on, you know? ['They' being, of course, the Powers that Be.]
